When red, tender and inflamed gums are notice it should not be ignored for it could be a sign of a more serious dental problem and needs an attention. And if left untreated it can progress to advance gum disease and may treatments may be expensive and surgical treatments may be an option for treatment.
Regular brushing and flossing are the two most effective and best way of keeping bacteria away in the mouth, having a warm water and salt solution as a mouth rinse is also helpful. Removing all food particles is a sure way of keeping infections out of the mouth. However, other activities such as smoking and drinking can help provide a less than hostile environment to many bacteria, allowing them a friendly neighborhood in which to live and grow.
